Cost breakdown, that is. Here’s a quick recap of how much our fabulous Save the Dates cost us. First and foremost, I base all my calculations on how much per Save the Date (or invitation) it will cost. Then I got back and make sure we won’t be spending too much overall just to save 3 cents.

Per Save the Date:

Backing – Night text weight paper from Paper Source: $0.07

Vellum Overlay (pack from AC Moore): $0.09

Pictures (4×6 from Wolf Camera): $0.10

Swarovski Rhinestones, small, from Rhinestoneguy.com: $0.12 (for both per STD)

Swarovski Rhinestone, large, from Rhinestoneguy.com: $0.08

Envelopes (DIY from fuschia Paper Source wrapping paper): $0.14

Ribbon (From AC Moore): $0.03

Envelope liners – night text weight paper from Paper Source (last minute addition, used leftovers from backing): $0.14

Magnets for the back (roll from AC Moore that we cut up): $0.04

Grand Total: $0.81 per Save the Date

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Here’s where I get fancy though and take out the cost for the envelope liners. I know they were part of the save the date, which is why I included them in the original cost, but I decided on them at the last minute and used leftover paper that I had already paid for and planned to use for other yet-to-be-planned miscellaneous wedding projects. So, without the cost of them, each one comes to $0.67!!! I am so proud of myself!

Were you able to come up with something that you were really happy with for a great price?

We last left off with a completed, DIY pink envelope – but it wasn’t actually done yet. Through wedding blogs, I also fell in love with envelope liners. I think they add that extra special little jazz and since our envelopes were made out of wrapping paper, it would make them a little more sturdy.

At first I wanted to use some sort of green paper since the only green on the save the date was the green ribbon at the top. I ran into a similar problem as I did when I was trying to make the envelopes – finding paper that was big enough. I could use a 12×12, so the scrapbooking section is where I went. I found some that I liked, but they weren’t cost effective. My only other option was wrapping paper again. I found some in the perfect shade of green from Hobby Lobby for only about $3/roll and that’s what I planned on using. But I was a little apprehensive.

Although I love the pink and green combo more than anything in this world (ok, maybe not more than I love L!), I didn’t want anything to look like my sorority threw up on our wedding! My sorority’s colors are rose and nile green, aka pink and green, which is part of the inspiration for our color scheme, but I didn’t want it to scream it. And unfortunately, the plain green wrapping paper I found, against the hot pink envelopes was going to do just that.

I had another thought, navy blue? I had lots of navy blue paper left from cutting out the backings for the STDs. I wondered if it would be too dark with the navy liner AND a navy STD. I consulted my mom and did some more thinking and realized, it would be fine. So navy envelope liners it was!

Have you ever tried to make them before? They’re super easy. A little time consuming, but not bad – and waaaay less time consuming than making envelopes!

Paper Source makes a template for liners, too – but I didn’t use them (surprising, I know) because it is so simple to make your own.

When I first became curious about envelope liners, I googled a tutorial and found this great one.

In a nut shell…

1. Take the paper you will be making the liner with and turn it over so the wrong side is up.
2. Take your envelope and place it on top of the paper with the flap unfolded and trace around it. It should look like a house.
3. Cut out the shape.
4. Trim 1/4″ off the bottom and a hair off of each side.
5. Slip it into your envelope and fold the envelope’s flap down so it creases the liner.
6. Add some glue or double stick tape to the back of the flap portion of the liner and smooth it onto the flap.
7. Voila! A perfectly lined envelope.

Be sure to check out the tutorial I mentioned above because she’s got some great photos since I forgot to take some of my own.

Now that the envelope itself was squared away, they needed to be addressed.

Thanks to the wedding blog gods, I also fell in love with wrap around labels.

Source

It wraps around to the back, hence the name, where the return address is printed. I’ve heard that some people have problems mailing these because the post office’s machines scan the return address rather than the one on the front, but we didn’t have any problems.

Martha Stewart offers a free template you can download, which I was planning on using. But they were plain white. Would they look funny? You know, stark white against the hot pink? Hmm, I thought and thought and thought.

Maybe if I used resume paper to print them out on. Maybe if I printed them on green paper. But again, I couldn’t find anything that was the right shade. And then I would run into the whole “it will look like my sorority threw up on the envelope” issue again. I finally just put it off until the envelopes were stuffed and ready to go. When that happened, I did one last google search, knowing I would find nothing that would work.

There were plenty of designers, especially on Etsy, that design and sell these fab labels, but I didn’t want to pay for them. If I didn’t want the white labels, I would just address them by hand.

But you know what, not only did I find another free template – I found the most absolutely perfect one!

Source

Do you see that???? Could they be any more perfect?! I think not. It ties the blue in from the liner and the STD, and it still adds green, but not so much that it’s overwhelming. I was so freaking excited and could not believe it. I think I did a dance for joy.

The only catch is that there are only four in the template and you can’t save what you type. What I mean is that you can’t type out all the addresses and then print them later. You have to type four labels, print, type four more labels, print, etc. But yeah, they’re free, and perfect and totally worth it!

Once they were all typed (which didn’t take nearly as long as I thought they would), I cut them with my paper cutter and ran them through my Xyron 5″ Creation Station (two next to each other so as not to waste adhesive). Peeled those babies off and stuck them on the envelope. I was so, so, so, SO happy with them. And L loved them too.

We used plain forever stamps with the Liberty Bell, but I thought it was fine. And we got lots of compliments on them.

Ready to mail them off!

I never really gave a terrible amount of thought to envelopes until I began reading wedding blogs. At first, I read about the girls who poured their heart in soul into their invitation, down the the stamp on the outside. Pff, I thought. Who cares about the stamp? As I continued to read over time, I began to understand why these women cared so much about such minute details. It was their wedding invitation. They wanted every thing about it to look beautiful!

When it came time to send out our save the dates, I knew exactly what I wanted. Hot. pink. envelopes. Our colors are navy, apple green and fuschia accents. But once our save the date vision was complete, I was afraid that there was not enough pink represented; just a little bit of glitter and three precious Swarovski rhinestones.

The perfect solution were these:

Source

Fuschia A7 envelopes from Paper Source. Unfortunately, at $4.25 for a 10 pack (or $0.43 per envelope), they were just too expensive. I needed 100 envelopes, so that adds up quickly. Plus, it was my goal to make these STDs for as cheap as humanly possibly (while still making them look rocking!).

I searched and searched and searched. And I just couldn’t find any pink ones that were 1. the right size (damn A7 is hard to find) 2. not too expensive and 3. the ride shade of pink.

White envelopes it was! But I just wasn’t happy. Then it hit me. Why don’t I just make them? Yup, I was going to make 100 fuschia envelopes.

Paper Source has an envelope template kit, available for $15 which I decided to purchase after I scoured the internet for a free one. But what to make the envelopes out of? Hmm, A7 is also a little on the larger size. I knew that one thing would surely work.

Wrapping paper!

And do you know who makes the exact shade of fushia wrapping paper that I needed? Paper Source, of course! At $5 a rolll it was the cheapest option and would work perfectly.

I must admit, that because the wrapping paper is obviously rolled, it was a little annoying to work with. I traced the template onto the paper in rows of three, then cut each row apart and then each envelope apart. Then I made several piles and put some heavy books on top of them for a couple days to help flatten them out.

Once I was ready to tackle 100 envelopes again, I sat down on the couch, with a gazillion Gilmore Girls reruns in the DVR and trimmed away. Once I was finally done with the process, which was time consuming, but not hard, I used my self healing cutting mat as a base when I scored all the creases. The templates are awesome because you can place them on the cut out envelope and use your bone folder to score them through these nifty little cut outs.

As I think about this again, I wonder if maybe it would have saved some time to score the creases when I traced each envelope? Hmm, anyone ever try that?

Anyway, I folded each and used a tape runner that I found at Hobby Lobby to glue the three sides together. And to glue the envelopes closed, I lined the top flap of each one with Lick and Stick envelope glue, also found at Paper Source. It’s great because you can put it on ahead of time and then remoisten it when you’re ready to seal the envelope – just like the store bought kind!

Here’s a great tutorial from Paper Source on the whole envelope making process that I found very helpful. And no, I am not employed by Paper Source, nor do I receive any fee for mentioning how great they are – I just really love the place and can almost always find exactly what I’m looking for!

Those envelopes weren’t done yet, though! But I think this post is a little long, so I’ll save the rest for tomorrow. Don’t you love a good cliff hanger?!

Sorry, for the sudden hiatus. I had something very important to take care of this past weekend, and I didn’t have time to write my post on Friday or let you know that I’d be away for a couple of days.

You see, last year I saw this picture somewhere and decided I wanted to do it.

Source

Notice how I admit that the picture is what made me want to do it. I am not a runner. I never have been. “The mile” was a phrase I dreaded growing up, knowing that we would have to run it for gym class and get graded on our time. I was never able to run it without stopping, nor did I ever finish in the time I was supposed to for my age bracket.

But I wanted to do this race.

You see that little number at the bottom? The one with the k after it. Oh yes, that would mean the race is a 10k. To save you from googling “how many miles is a 10k” like I did after I saw this poster, I’ll just tell you. It’s 6.2 miles. Yup, the girl who had never run a mile in her life wanted to run a race that was over 6.

This race is HUGE, but I had never heard of it. It is approximately the 20th largest 10k in the world! And this year they had over 38,000 people sign up for it. I found this poster about 2 weeks prior to last year’s race. Of course that wasn’t enough time to prepare, so I decided I would participate in the 2010 race. I mentioned this to L, who is a runner, and he was on board. Our reward would be to spend the weekend in Charleston after the race.

We started training in April and I was barely able to finish a half mile without stopping. Unfortunately, we got busy and the summer heat set in and our training tapered off. In August I realized that I needed to get going and we started again. This time, picking out a couple of 5k races to run and use as intermediate goals. I’ll never forget the day I ran a mile for the first time. I was grunting like a cavewoman at the end, but I did it. For the first time ever.

The first 5k we ran was on my old college campus, which is SUPER hilly. It was pouring rain during most of the race and I was not able to finish it without walking parts of it. I was disappointed, but really – those hills sucked. We ran a second race a couple weeks later at the airport which was really cool. And flat. I finished, without stopping, in about 37 minutes.

At this point the holidays were upon us and we got very busy again. The training tapered off to almost nothing until a friend who was planning to do the CRBR with us passed along an email to me. The Almost Free Running Program. 15 weeks for $15. That’s almost unheard of. It was to prepare you for the specific race we were doing. My frined, L and I signed up. We started at 2.5 miles and worked our way up every week. This really, really helped and our training was in high gear.

I was nervous before teh race, because I never ran the full 6.2 miles without stopping. The closest I came was stopping twice for .1 each time. I wanted to comfortably be able to run it. Oh well, I would rely on adrenaline.

As it turns out, our first friend wasn’t able to go to the race, but two others were. We drove down Friday and got up at the crack of down (4:30am, to be exact) to get in line for the buses that took you to the start line.

The race is relatively flat except for the bridge. Which is a 4% incline for over a mile! All I wanted to do was get to the top of the bridge without stopping. And I did. Holy crap, I couldn’t believe it. I almost started crying, mid-run, because I was so proud of myself. Not once did I feel like I HAD to stop. There were a couple times when I wanted to, but I thought to myself, “if you were able to run up the whole bridge, you can make it the rest of the way.” And that I did. I ran the whole race. All 6.2 miles of it. Without stopping! I was so, so, so happy.

L finished with Bridesmaid E about 10 minutes ahead of me and Bridesmaid LM (her and I finished within 2 seconds of each other). We were so proud of all of us.

And no, I’m not lying. I really didn’t stop, because if I had, there is no way I would have had a time like this:

That’s about an 11 minute mile, in case you were wondering. That may not be anything to sneeze at for some people, but considering less than a year ago I was barely able to finish one mile at all? I think it’s quite an accomplishment!

So that’s where I’ve been. I’m off to write about the pink envelopes for the Save the Dates that I promised you on Friday.

Previously, I have shared some of my save the date inspiration. But I also mentioned that I had a save the date idea that I loved for a very long time. Too long, perhaps. See, as I have mentioned before, I was obsessed with wedding blogs long before L and I were ever engaged. Like two years before we were engaged. I loved the idea of doing a lot of the wedding details ourselves and knew that this would be necessary to make some things affordable enough to fit into our budget.

While perusing Weddingbee as a non-engaged lady one day, I came across Mrs. Cherry Pie’s save the dates.

Source

Aren’t they lovely? And they seemed super inexpensive and easy to make. I quickly saved the link and stored it away in my little mind for months and years to come. I’m sure I had showed this to L at one point, after I had been caught reading the ‘Bee when he saw it in the address bar history one night. But I brought it up again when we were engaged. I have seen lots and lots of save the dates that I loved, but this one always stuck with me and I knew that as long as L was on board, this is what I wanted to do.

We were unsure if we would be able to afford engagement pictures or not, but figured we could use any picture we liked of the two of us. As luck would have it, we won a free engagement session. I wanted to do the session in December so we could use the photos for our STDs, but L convinced me to wait so that we each had time to lose some weight before we did our session (something we both wanted to do). I’m really glad we did wait, because we have both been quite successful.

The STDs could not wait, however. I scoured all the pictures of us and we found some that would do, but nothing we were crazy about. We aren’t able to get to a large amount of recent pictures because there is something wrong with our external hard drive where they are stored. So, in the meantime, we asked a friend to take a photo for us.

We went to the center of town where there is a really cute bridge over the railroad tracks with my point and shoot camera for him to use. He had other plans. He showed up with his new fancy camera that he bought to take photos of his baby daughter with. What I thought would take 15 minutes turned in to over an hour. Then he edited them for us! I think he was just excited to play with all his new equipment.

Unfortunately, I don’t have photos of the whole process, but it was quite simple for the most part. This is how it went down:

We bought a bulk pack of text weight paper in Night from Paper-Source and cut our 5×7 pieces of paper. This would serve as the backing for the photo. I then Xyron-ed each of the photos (which we printed as 4x6s) so they would have a smooth sticking surface and adhered them to the center of the blue paper.

Next, I bought a pack of 50 sheets of vellum from AC Moore (don’t forget to use your coupons!) and cut it to 5×7 pieces as well.

This is where it got a bit tricky… I opened up a word document and set it to a 5×7 size so I could design the text that would be gocco’d on the vellum. I thought it looked great until L told me the lines weren’t even. Doh! But, he fixed them for me and we were very happy with the way it looked. We printed it out on a laser printer and I moved on to burn the gocco screen.

When I put the paper in and closed the Gocco, I realized the design was too big. My fault for never checking the print dimensions of the damn thing. I had make the design slightly smaller, printed it out again and went back to trying to burn it. But see, there is this weird “frosted” area along the edges of the glass on the gocco. I figured that even though my newly sized border was under that part, that it would still burn.

I was wrong.

It only burned part of the border and now I had wasted a precious screen. I was mad. I took it back to L (who was at work this whole time, I kept driving up to the fire station), Gocco in hand so we could test the size before I went back home. We couldn’t make the paper smaller because everything was cut and the picture was already glued to the backing. I couldn’t waste all of that. So we just moved the borders in so they weren’t along the edge of the paper. I was unsure about this tactic, but it worked out nicely, as it was now a 4×6 border and framed the picture perfectly.

I was finally able to burn the screen and gocco away with some navy ink to match everything. But I couldn’t leave it at that. I wanted to add pink glitter. And so I did. When I printed one sheet, I quickly sprinkled some pink glitter on the words “save the date”. The only problem? I couldn’t tap the excess off because the borders were wet as well and the glitter would stick.

Fortunately, I had two large dog crates to use as drying racks!

You can see not all of them were dry and still had the piles of glitter on them

Once I was done, I painstakingly glued three fuschia swarovski rhinestones to the bottom of each piece of vellum. The center stone was 20ss and the two side stones were 16ss – so the middle one was slightly larger. I used Martha Stewart Glitter Glue because it had a very fine tip, but as it turns out, most of the rhinestones fell off in the mail .

From there, I adhered two pieces of magnet to the back of each navy card. We bought a roll of magnet from AC Moore for about $7 and L cut it into about 1″ pieces. This way, people could put it on the fridge if they wanted to. I was almost done!

I then held the vellum over the photo and punched two holes to string ribbon through. Hmm, I really should have done this first because the magnet was in the way of most of the holes. But with a little extra strenght, i punched right through those magnets!

Next, I threaded the ribbon through and folded the edges and snipped them to get the ‘v’shape ends. hooray! We were done.

I’m really happy with the way they came out. Except for the rhinestones falling off. Oh yeah, and we’ve been told that a lot of the glitter rubbed off too. oh well, you can’t change it now.

I. Love. Cake. Seriously. Probably more than most people. If it wouldn’t affect my pants’ size, I could easily sit down in front of a whole cake with a fork and be perfectly content. No need for a knife or plate. Just the cake and a fork for me.

So naturally, I was very excited to plan the details of our wedding cake. But what I didn’t realize was how freakin’ expensive those cakes can be! We got some initial prices at a bridal show – $4.00 per serving??? WHAT?! I love cake (did I mention that yet?), but I’m also perfectly happy with cake from a Duncan Heins box.

I did some more research online and realized that a lot of cakes were in this price range, with the lowest around $3/serving. For a bride on a budget, this made me sick. How were we going to squeeze in another $300-700 for a cake when we’re already so close to our top number?

Well, there are a couple of options:

- We could do a smaller cake to display and have sheet cakes in the back. This would significantly reduce the cost of the cake because the sheet cakes were on average only $1/serving.

- We could reduce the amount of servings we would order. For a cake lover like me, it’s hard to understand that many people don’t actually eat the wedding cake (gasp!). So, for our estimated 160 guests, we don’t actually need to order 160 servings.

For us, there was one problem with option one. I wanted a tall cake. Like, really tall. This cake, which is from my friend’s wedding a couple of years ago, is exactly what we’re going for – except we want the design to change a little. But the basic idea is right – super duper tall and flowers between the layers.

I inquired about faux layers too. I had read that that was a good option if you wanted a larger cake, but didn’t actually need that many servings. But what I realized was that the faux layers are not that cheap either. They are about 60% of the cost of a real layer. I soon realized that this option was not really meant to save money – it’s more for those that want the large cake, but don’t need it. Not that you want a large cake, but don’t have the budget for it.

We marched on. Then I thought of our friend who does cakes as a side business. Her cakes look great and taste AMAZING. We knew we didn’t want any crazy design, so we asked her what she thought of doing ours for us. After much thinking and talking, she regrettably told us she wouldn’t be able to do it. She didn’t want to risk something happening to the cake on the hour and a half trip from the Charlotte-area to Winston-Salem, especially with her kids in the car.

Sad. I was really hoping she would be able to help us and it would save us some money.

I went back to my spreadsheet and started with the cheapest one on the list and made an appointment for last Friday.

The cakes on their website are quite lovely – and I really would have thought that they cost a lot more. We showed up ready to taste cake and armed with some pictures for inspiration.

What do we want? Classic, elegant and beautiful. A white on white design made up of swirls and dots. And most importantly – NO FONDANT. I used to think that that was all I wanted because I loved the super smooth look. But I don’t want to have to work to eat my cake and peel off the fondant. I know that you can obviously eat it, but I don’t care for the texture. Or the taste. And I have seenn so many pictures of buttercream cakes that are incredibly smooth.

These are the photos we shared with the pastry chef:

We liked the swirls & dots – not the fondant ribbon or bow

Swirls and dots again. We want all round layers and probably no ribbon.

Love the dots – no cascading flowers though

Plus, we also shared the first photo in the post. We got excellent news, too. We could do smaller layers so there could be more of them (similar to my friend’s cake) and their servings started at $3. We tasted white cake with buttercream frosting, devils food cake with chocolate ganach icing, carrot cake with cream cheese icing, red velvet with cream cheese icing and pink lemonade cake with lemon icing. They were all soooo good.

Going into this, we wanted white and red velvet, but the chocolate was possibly the best chocolate cake we have ever had. So we decided on three flavors. The red velvet is $0.50/serving extra, but that’s ok. The cost of the cake comes to $354, plus pedestal and cake stand rental. Some of the rental fees are refunded when return the items though.

The one hitch? Because our wedding is on a Sunday, the delivery fee is doubled. Doubled, I tell you. That is crazy. I thought the advantage to Sunday weddings was negotiating with vendors. Even though the bakery is a mere 5 minutes away, the delivery charge is $100! But, we can pick it up. With each layer boxed separately and the pedestals already attached. We will ask our cake friend to stack the layers since she has experience.

I’m glad to have another thing checked off of our list. Did you have trouble finding a wedding cake or fitting it into your budget? Do you have any other suggestions for brides on a budget?

I think it’s unfair that there airlines offer frequent flyer miles, but there aren’t any frequent driver miles. Ha. L and I have done A LOT of driving in the last few days – and it would be nice if we had some frequent driver miles.

We drove the red route on Weds, orange on Thursday and green on Friday

Wednesday began our whirlwind cirlce of the state. L left work a little bit early and we piled into the car, dogs and all, and set off for the beach. Our reason for going was to have our engagement pictures taken at Wrightsville Beach – just outside of Wilmington, NC. It takes about 3 1/2 hours to get there and our pictures were scheduled for 10am on Thursday. Luckily, L’s parents own a condo in North Myrtle Beach, also about 3 1/2 hours from us, but only a little more than an hour south of Wilmington. We had checked with his parents and the condo was free. So we headed down the night before so we would only have an hour to drive in the morning, rather than three.

Talk about this quickest trip ever – we joked that we didn’t even need to make the bed and should have just brought a sleeping bag. We got there at 9:30 Wednesday night and left for Wrightsville Beach at 8:00 Thursday morning. We were there for less than 12 hours!

The forecast for Thursday was not good – a high of 61 and 60% chance of showers. But since we didn’t have any other time to go, we decided to risk it. It rained on and off the whole way up to W.B. Unfortunately, at 10am, we hadn’t reached the high for the day and it was only about 45 degrees out. Yikes.

As you could tell from my sneek peek photo, I went with the pink dress. I initially wore a navy cardigan over it in some of the pictures around town - a total last minute decision just because it was cold. We did some without the cardigan and then I threw on the white one that you see in the photo to change things up a bit. After all my shopping and stressing, the only new thing that I wore was the white one. Oh well, I’ll spend a day returning everything else!

Our toes were definitely frozen into icicles from walking in the water, but it was totally worth it. In the photos you can’t really tell that it was raining, except in a few where you can see the raindrops on our clothes. But there are a few where you can see the pain and surprise of cold water on our faces. I can’t wait to get the disc in the mail to show you more. Here’s one other sneek peak

After about an hour and 45 minutes (not bad since this was a free session!), we packed pack into the car – cold, wet and sandy – and headed up to the Raleigh-area where L’s parents live. The reason was to go to a NHL Hurricanes hockey game with a couple of L’s friends/groomsmen. It was public safety night and we were able to get tickets for very cheap. We showered at his house and visited with his mom and saw some family briefly before heading to dinner and the hockey game. We had a great time and didn’t get home until late and had to be up early the next morning.

At 9am on Friday, we left and headed to Winston-Salem for an appointment with a cake baker. We were hoping a friend of ours would do our wedding cake, but she doesn’t feel comfortable having to get it all the way from the Charlotte-area to Winston-Salem, so we have to find a cake now. For cheap. I’d done some research and looked at the info we had from bridal shows and picked the cheapest one to make our first appointment with. Luckily, it’s only about 5 minutes from our venue. I’ll save more information on this for another post, because I want to show you some of the cake pictures we brought for inspiration.

Following the appointment, we finally finished the last leg of our trip and headed home. Whew! What a crazy 2 1/2 days! Not only that, but L had to go to work that night.

Was that all? Of course not! My mom flew in from CT Saturday morning. I picked her up and we met L and bridesmaid LM downtown to go for a run (not my mom, of course). A mere 6.2 miles to get one last group run out before our 10k this weekend. Lots and lots of wedding errands with my mom proved to cross lots off my list. And yesterday we went to our tasting. But, that will be another post too – because I have lots of yummy photos to share with you.

We’re somewhere along I-40 right now, heading from Wilmington up toward the Raleigh area – I love the wordpress app for blackberries!

At around 11:30 this morning, we wrapped up our engagement shoot on Wrightsville Beach. And two hours later, I think we have finally thawed out.

The weather was less than stellar. 45 degrees and drizzling. Yesterday, we debated weather we would even go, but then realized that we didn’t really have any other time available. We would just make the best of it and maybe have some fun in the puddles.

So that’s what we did!

We started out walking around some shops and used an umbrella as a prop. There was a cool mural painted on a wall, some traffic cones and construction workers and making silly faces in reflective windows where surely the workers inside were wondering what we were doing.

I ended up with option one pink dress, which I altered by hand to make it fit better and threw on a navy blue cardigan at the last second because it was so cold.

Following that, we headed over to the beach and pier area and took some photos with the puppies by the water. They wanted to play so badly and Shep practically dragged me into the ocean because he wanted to swim; though he only got me to my knees. And you know what? That water was damn cold! My toes were frozen!

We put them back in the car and headed back out for some pictures with just us. Our photographer seemed to be having some issues with her camera because her hands were so cold and she was worried about it getting wet (even though at times it was hardly raining. I think we still got some good shots- and really we can’t complain too much since we’re not paying for them and we get the full disk with rights to print.

The session concluded with us messing around at the edge of the water until a hug wave came and splashed all of us – complete with water going all the way up my dress.

We had a good time and I’m excited to see how they turn out! She said we should have them in about two weeks, so I’ll be sure to share them with you!

Oh, and I never changed outfits. I did do some photos without the cardigan and then switched it for a white one.

Tonight we’re headed to a Carolina Hurricanes game with some of L’s friends from home (it’s public safety night and we got decent tickets for cheap!), then tomorrow we are stopping at a cake shop for a consultation about our wedding cake!
